-Something to think about: will we be able to relate well to the black employees when we have no black member in our group?
-We need to survey more formally than we did today. We should have four different surveys: a faculty one, a student one, a general employee one, and an employee/black single mother one (this should be a follow-up type survey, mostly?). I guess that means we can each create one of these surveys ASAP (or, if some of us are too busy, others can make multiples). I'd be happy to do do the general employee one. My friend thinks it wouldn't be too hard to convince Duke to send the survey to all Duke employees/Duke undergrads/etc., so online surveys are looking better and better. Carolyn doesn't know how we can access Zoomerang--but David does. I've emailed him asking for info.
-We should see what similar programs exist in Durham (check out The Herald-Sun, or even ask librarians to help with this search), and even in the U.S.
-As usual, we must worry about making measurable goals.
-We need to work on a mission vision to help our elevator pitch.
-We need to worry about how we'll get food + ingredients, and FUNDING.
-Partnerships: Carolyn doesn't think we should partner with anyone from the food industry, but with Duke. We should talk to Larry Moneta.
-Carolyn doesn't think competition from other food places will be a big deal, 'cause everyone has cravings for certain food options at certain times (every restaurant has its own niche).
-I must try to contact Mayme + Jim Wulforst more aggressively.
-We should think of more faculty/administrators to contact (e.g. Women's Studies Dept./Women's Center folks).
-Since we're still just working on contacting a million people and everyone's extremely busy, should we just keep contacting away and not meet tomorrow? It's not like we'd get much writing done, anyway. We can work on our sections on our own whenever we have time, and work on filling out an action plan (which I'll start in Google Docs).
